Composer Park Si Hyuk will be revealing a song called One Woman, which he sampled Kim Jong Gook's One Man, on the Park Si Hyuk's b'shop segment of Mnet M!Countdown. Park Si Hyuk said, "I've been wanting to make a song answering 'One Man' from a woman's point of view for a very long time." He added, "I sampled the basic instrumentals of the song and added other instruments with hip hop. I saved the same melody for the chorus, added new lyrics from the woman's point of view and new melody to continue the story of the song." Park also sparked interest when he revealed, "At the end of the song, there is a turn of events." When asked about the difference between remaking and sampling a song, he replied,
"There is a lot of talk about remaking or sampling a song, and I feel like the definitions need clarification. Remake is when you take the exact melody, structure and lyrics of the original song and change the instrumentals. Sampling, on the other hand, is when you legally use the part of the original song and reinterpret it. You need to have permission from the song owner and rightfully pay them for using the part."Now this brought up the issue about the various plagiarism issues today. On plagiarism, Park Si Hyuk said, "Plagiarism is a very big issue these days. It is very difficult to decide how to deal with the situation. However, we must note the difference between sampling and plagiarism." Issues and controversies aside, I'm just excited to hear One Woman!
