Most Koreans celebrate the Korean Lunar New Year spending time with their families and binging eating dduk gook and other yummy food; YG Entertainment is welcoming the new year with a massive office relocation. At the end of January, the YG Family, including Big Bang, 2NE1 and Se7en, will move to a seven-story office building near the Han River in Hapjeong-dong, Mapo-gu. YG Entertainment launched under the name of Yang Goon Production in 1997, and continued to grow in monthly-rented buildings in Hap Jung Dong and Sang Soo Dong until now. Because there have been many difficulties since the office and the training room were separated, the company decided to look for a new office space a few years back. Construction for the new place was recently completed. A representative revealed that the new space is worth 10 billion won (~$8,490,000 USD) and approximately 2,078 square meters, so about a quarter of a typical city block. The new YG headquarters will house offices, recording studios and other facilities to represent YGE's unique style and appearance. I'm sure that the YG Fam is pretty excited for this move, since it'll almost definitely be an upgrade from their current office. Congrats to them on their upcoming move!
