On September 13 KST, the members of SM Entertainment's new trot idol group MYTRO began their debut journey through the TV Chosun reality program, 'Falling for a Trot-dol: Lovestruck Noonas'.
Ahead of 'Trot-dol's official premiere in October, TV Chosun aired a special episode on this day, introducing the 5 members of MYTRO for the first time. The program also introduced the "noonas" who will be cheering on MYTRO's debut journey - Lee Young Ja, Song Eun Yi, and Kim Sook.
Throughout the episode, each of the members of MYTRO told their backstories of how they started out in the music industry. First, Han Taei, a former member of the idol group Mr. Mr., revealed that he had suffered from a cardiac arrest shortly after his group's disbandment. During his recovery, he suffered damage to his vocal cord from intubation, but was able to regain his singing voice through immense effort.
Next, Seo Woohyuk introduced himself as an child actor from the hit Netflix drama 'The Glory'. Regarding his decision to take on trot for his next challenge, he stated, "I'm the kind of person who packs a punch. I will bring this team good fortune," demonstrating his enthusiasm.
A foreign member, Shohei from Japan, also garnered attention on this episode with his decision to tackle the Korean genre of trot. Shohei, a former member of S.M.ROOKIES, had to give up his dream of debuting as a K-Pop idol after his spinal disk injury. He overcame the emptiness he felt after giving up his dream through art, then recently received the offer to join a trot team.
Another member with a background in acting, Jung Yoonjae, shared that it was his father's dream to become a singer. Throughout the episode, Yoonjae displayed his strong sense of filial piety as well as his sweet and reliable personality, making the "noona fans" swoon.
Finally, a former contestant of TV Chosun's 'Mister Trot 2', Lim Chaepyung, moved viewers by surprising his mother with his debut news.
Following the journey of these 5 members on their path to debut, TV Chosun's 'Falling for a Trot-dol: Lovestruck Noonas' is set to premiere in the first week of October.
