Super Junior D&E have revealed their MV teaser for "GGB."
In this teaser, the duo showcases their sense of freedom against the backdrop of a desert. According to ODE Entertainment, the song reflects "feelings about missing an ex-girlfriend in a more comfortable setting with adorable lyrics."
However, the title has sparked significant controversy, as "GGB" is an acronym for a Korean word often used as a derogatory term for women. In response to the criticism, Super Junior D&E has decided to cancel their music show appearances.
"GGB," which is part of their 5th mini album '606,' will drop on March 26 at 6 PM KST.
From what I've heard over the past few weeks, the term is very commonly used, including in kdramas. I think it's pretty obvious that D&E aren't referring to women in a derogatory way by referencing the term in the song. I wish they didn't decide not to appear on music shows. People were being overly sensitive. Words only have power that you give them.
