A viral video of a high school student talking back to her teacher is sparking controversy.
On November 22, a video clip of an argument between a female high school student and her male teacher went viral online. In the clip, the student and middle-aged teacher can be seen arguing loudly in the hallway as other students giggle and film the incident.
The teacher loudly instructs the student to go back to the classroom, and the student yells back, "Why are you yelling at me? I'm a precious daughter of my family." When the teacher seemed caught off-guard, the student continued, "I'm not someone you can walk all over. Why did you grab my hair?"
When the teacher explained he grabbed the student's bag and her hair was entangled on it, the student continues to argue he had pulled her hair. After hearing the other students' laughing, the teacher attempted to end the argument by saying, "Having fun? Well, keep doing that then." The student then responds, "Did you have fun grabbing my hair?" The student is then seen following the teacher as she continues to argue, and the teacher yells that he'll be speaking to the committee for teacher's rights. The video clip ends when another adult, who's assumed to be a teacher, approaches the scene.
According to details posted with the viral clip, the argument began when the student attempted to go to the cafeteria during class, and the teacher grabbed the student's bag to prevent her from leaving the classroom. It's currently sparking outrage as it's caused concerns about teachers' rights in Korea, and many are expressing worry that teachers no longer have the authority to stop inappropriate behavior from students.
