Almost two years after coming out as bisexual, the former main vocalist of the 2013-2019 girl group 'Wa$$up' has released her long-awaited debut album.
The album, titled 'Love is Love,' was entirely fan-funded through Makestar after Jiae expressed concerns with finding an agency to represent her after coming out as bisexual back in 2020, where she posted a photo with her girlfriend at the time. The backlash from her coming out spawned many hate comments, to the point where she had to seek legal action against malicious commenters.
The crowdfunded project, which launched in February of this year, exceeded expectations and finished with 226% funding and 257 participators in total.
'Love is Love' contains five original tracks with a moody R&B vibe that showcases her unique vocal style, with emotive lyrics about love, life, and all of the pain that goes with it. Jiae is credited as a lyricist and composer for all of the songs, and she worked alongside Tea Belle (who has written for EXID's Solji) and Mikael Bae.
Be sure to check out the music video for the title track 'Love is Love,' and the album itself is available on most major streaming services.
I came into the song not really knowing what to expect as I literally had no expectations...but you guys!!! This song is really goooooood! I really love it! The quality of the sound for something that was crowd funded is amazing. It's the style of Bibi for example, that type of genre. A title like that needed a stellar song and she gave it. Her talent is amazing and to think this is the quality of music she can make now imagine if someone would finally let the homophobia go and give her a chance .... I wasn't sure then but I'm definitely checking that album out now, while I patiently wait for all the alkp homophobes to crawl out and downvote me and this article.
