Mystic Story's highly anticipated new K-Pop girl group Billlie finally held their first official debut stage this week, but netizens' reactions are extremely split.
Billlie's debut title track "Ring x Ring", from their 1st mini album 'The Billage of Perception: Chapter One', is the work of Mystic Story's resident hit producer, Lee Min Soo. His most well-known works include Brown Eyed Girls's "Abracadabra" and "Sixth Sense", IU's "Good Day" and "Pink Shoes", Gain's "Bloom" and "Carnival", and most of Sunny Hill's discography.
Ever since Billlie began teasing their debut earlier this year, many suspected that the group's color would be different from the usual K-Pop girl group sound.
And now, the fully unveiled song, choreography, and visuals have become a heated topic of discussion.
Some netizens said:
"The highlight part is so weird."
"Am I listening to a song from an indie horror film..?"
"It's too chaotic."
"This is so bad."
"In the beginning, I was like, 'Oh this isn't bad...', but then the chorus started and I was like 'Oh no'. I've never heard a song where the chorus turns you off as soon as it starts."
"Ughhh..."
"What am I even listening to."
"The music itself is like hurting my ears."
The instrumentals sound scary."
"I don't know what to say. I just don't know."
While others felt:
"I freaking love it."
"I've this on repeat since yesterday."
"The entire album reminds me of Sunny Hill."
"The chorus is really interesting."
"I love this kind of concept!! It reminds me of Dream Catcher a little."
"It's so refreshing. It's definitely new the first time you listen to it, but it makes me want to listen again."
"It has retro K-Pop feels. Definitely getting Sunny Hill vibes."
"This is my type of song. And the girls are good performers."
"I came in here expecting it to be some crazy weird song but... I like it."
"OMG this is so my thing."
Which side would you agree with?
Think they want to start off with an unusual song that's kinda weird. I mean the buzz is generated, and any press is good press
