Soon after the release of JYP Entertainment's new profile photos for the 13 'Nizi Project' season 2 trainees, fans have compiled some rumors and speculations about the program as well as original top 14 finalist Suzu, who will not be participating in season 2.
Some other rumors and speculations surrounding 'Nizi Project' season 2:
1. Suzu's absence is due to the rumors that her parents didn’t want her leaving the country.
2. There are rumors that this will be more like Stray Kids's survival show format as opposed to 'Sixteen'. Members Lee Know and Felix were eliminated from Stray Kids's survival program; however came back and all 9 of the contestants debuted.
3. Survival shows that don’t specify a final lineup number ahead of time beforehand, usually turn out to be bigger than expected. YGE’s 'Mix & Match' confirmed from the start that 7 members would debut, which was the final outcome for iKON. However, YG’s 'Treasure Box' didn’t specify a number, and TREASURE went from 7 to an additional 6, making them at the time 13.
4. It is also rumored that this group will debut as 14-members, with a concept of two teams. This is considering that the term 'Nizi' means "rainbow" in Japanese - 7 colors in the rainbow to represent members. JYP has officially confirmed before that while the group will be based in Japan, they will have global activities. If the concept of two separate teams - Team K and Team J - happened, it would be likely that the girls who trained in JYP beforehand including Mako, Mihi, Rima, and Yuna in the former team.
'Nizi Project' season 2 will be airing on 'Hulu Japan' on April 24. In the meantime, check out a teaser for the series above.
I mean big groups are kind of popular at the moment, and while a group this big is unprecedented for JYP, Japan tends to gravitate more towards groups of this size. I think JYP might be going for and Iz*one/Loona style group. I can’t see this group being smaller than 10 which then makes it pointless to really eliminate anyone. Plus the number should have something with 7 since 7 colors in the rainbow which means suzu could come back. Idk all theorizing but still it would be genius. Eliminations make a show more interesting in the short run but in the long run people fall in love with the trainees and get disappointed when there fave doesn’t make the cut.
