Shinhwa's Junjin teared up as he talked about his late grandmother.
On the January 20th episode of 'My Ugly Duckling', Junjin appeared as a special guest in the studio. As he spoke with the elderly family members of the program, Jinjin shared a sad episode of him and his grandmother.
When he was young, Junjin had grown under the care of his grandmother, because he only met his mother for the first time at the age of 24. When he was a young boy, his grandmother would always accompany him to school events, which often included family sports competitions.
During a buddy race, in which your leg is tied together with that of your parent, Junjin had wanted so badly to win with his grandmother. However, his grandmother's knee had already become so weak due to a number of surgeries, making it difficult for the race.
"Yet, she still participated in the race," said Junjin. "When I didn't get first place, I still expressed annoyance at my grandmother [because she was so slow]. She apologized to me aftewards, then went back home alone."
"Later that night when I saw my grandmother, I noticed that her eyes had become so puffy from crying," said Junjin, as he suddenly burst into tears. "Right now, I love this atmosphere of the program here, because you all remind me of my grandmother. I feel as though you are all my grandmothers, who was like a mother to me."
Though late, Junjin apologized to his grandmother.
