Korean literature has finally claimed a Nobel Prize.
On the evening of October 10 (Korean time), the Swedish Academy in Stockholm announced Korean Novelist Han Kang as the recipient of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Literature.
The Academy cited Han Kang's "poetic prose that confronts historical wounds and exposes the fragility of human life" as the reason for awarding her this prestigious honor.
She is the first South Korean to receive this prestigious award, with her international breakthrough novel, 'The Vegetarian (2007),' garnering global attention. Previously honored notable figures include Bob Dylan, Toni Morrison, and Winston Churchill.
