A US national has been taken into custody for inflicting injury with a knife.

On January 2, South Korean police revealed they arrested an American in his 40s for allegedly using a knife to injure a local man in his 20s. The suspect is alleged to have attacked the victim in an alleyway in western Seoul at 7:22PM on Monday after approaching the victim's car and attacking him when he exited the vehicle. The victim suffered non-critical wounds and was treated at a hospital. 

Following a 40-minute search, the suspect was found by police at his home. According to reports, the suspect was drunk at the time of the crime, and police are currently investigating his motives. 

Causing injury via a deadly weapon is punishable by up to 10 years in prison under South Korean law.
