After the dismissal of former, corrupt MBC president Kim Jang Gyeom, the broadcasting station's board of shareholders met on December 7 to appoint a new president to office.
The position went to a former veteran producer, Choi Seung Ho (56), who was fired from MBC back in 2012. Choi was part of a 170-day employee strike in 2012 against MBC, claiming that the executives of the broadcasting station prevented its employees from fair and unbiased reporting.
Since his appointment, Choi began heading MBC's return to normalcy by reinstating all former employees who were fired with him due to the strike back in 2012, in addition to welcoming back those who took part in the mass general strike since September.
Choi told MBC's labor union on December 7, "I would like to thank the public as the representative of you employees at MBC, and will do my best so that you all will be able to achieve the dreams in your hearts."
