A good samaritan act by a Korean college student buying food for a homeless lady is going viral in the Philippines.
The story was first posted by a bystander who observed the event and felt compelled to share it in on Facebook. Hillary Aguada told the story of how she and her roommate stopped by Kentucky Fried Chicken for dinner during a cold and rainy evening in Baguio City, Philippines. That's when she spotted a seemingly homeless elderly woman who had on "ragged clothes" and "worn out slippers." As the older lady placed her order, "maybe in hopes that the cashier would be kind enough to just give her the food for free," a young Korean man who was also observing on the side stepped in and handed money to the cashier, paying for the meal himself. He then sat down with the old lady and proceeded to have dinner with her.
Hillary Aguada wrote how she was "really moved by the kindness of [the] man" and included the picture that she snapped of the Korean college student with the lady on her Facebook post.
The story went viral in the Philippines, getting covered by many news and media outlets. In this particular interview of the Korean college student studying at the University of Baguio, he said, "The moment I saw the elderly homeless lady, I thought of my own paternal grandmother."
