Bang Si Hyuk, chairman of HYBE, has been identified as the top stockholder in Korea’s K-culture sector, with an estimated valuation of approximately 4.8 trillion KRW(~3.2 billion USD).
According to a report released on March 19 KST by the Korea CXO Institute, the analysis covered shareholders holding at least 10 billion KRW in stocks related to cultural content industries, including film, music, drama, webtoons, and web novels.
As of March 17, a total of 27 individuals met the criteria, with their combined stock value rising from about 5.999 trillion KRW at the beginning of the year to 6.127 trillion KRW—an increase of over 127.6 billion KRW in roughly three months.
Bang Si Hyuk ranked first by a significant margin, holding over 13.15 million shares in HYBE.
Second place went to J.Y. Park, founder and major shareholder of JYP Entertainment, with holdings valued at approximately 362.7 billion KRW.
Third was Yang Hyun Suk of YG Entertainment, with around 225 billion KRW.
Other notable figures included Park Sung Chan (Danal) and Kang Seung Kwon of Cube Entertainment.
Meanwhile, members of BTS are each estimated to hold stock assets worth around 20 billion KRW as of March 17, though disclosure obligations no longer apply after they were excluded from HYBE’s largest shareholder related party group in September 2023.
