tvN is set to launch a spin-off of its flagship variety show, 'Amazing Saturday'.
According to Star News on February 20, tvN will premiere a new variety program titled 'Amazing Thursday' next month. The show is a spin-off of tvN’s long-running hit 'Amazing Saturday' and will air as a pilot following 'Cha's Family,' which currently broadcasts on Thursdays.
This marks the first spin-off of 'Amazing Saturday' in about five years, since the 2021 TVING original 'Idol Dictation Contest'. Since its debut in 2018, 'Amazing Saturday' has enjoyed steady popularity. With its experimental format and expanded universe, the franchise is now preparing to meet viewers in a fresh new way.
The move comes amid recent controversies that led to the departures of Park Na Rae, Key, and Haetnim The Short Mouth from the original program. Through this spin-off, the production team appears poised to shift the atmosphere and attempt a new direction.
'Amazing Thursday' will center on a karaoke-themed music battle between two teams. Like its predecessor, it is expected to be a family-friendly entertainment show.
Boom, Lee Yong Jin, Jung Yi Rang, ZO ZAZZ, and Seo Eunkwang have been confirmed as MCs. Notably, Boom will continue his role as host from 'Amazing Saturday'.
'Amazing Thursday' is scheduled to premiere in mid-March.
