IVE heightened anticipation for their comeback with a highlight medley previewing the refined sound of their second full length album.
On February 16th KST, their agency Starship Entertainment released the highlight medley video for IVE’s second full album ‘REVIVE+’ through the group’s official YouTube channel.
The video features previews of all 12 tracks, including the double title tracks ‘BLACKHOLE’ and ‘BANG BANG,’ as well as solo songs from each member.
In particular, title track ‘BLACKHOLE’ immediately captured listeners’ attention with its dreamy, cinematic sound and Liz’s striking lyric, “If you want it, anything can come true.” As the centerpiece of the album, the song redefines the meaning of “us” and continues IVE’s signature narcissism narrative that began with their debut single ‘ELEVEN.’ Lyricist Seo Ji Eum, who has been instrumental in shaping IVE’s storytelling since debut, participated in the track alongside lyricist Hwang Yubin (XYXX), further enriching the group’s evolving narrative.
The accompanying tracks also showcase IVE’s wide musical spectrum. From ‘Hide and Seek (Hush)’ to ‘Stuck In Your Head,’ ‘Fireworks,’ and ‘HOT COFFEE,’ the album spans diverse genres, raising expectations for a well rounded listening experience.
Adding to the album’s significance, each member contributes a solo track. Jang Wonyoung’s ‘8’ signals a bold transformation with its tension driven EDM sound, while Gaeul’s ‘Odd’ captivates with dreamy mid low vocals. Leeseo’s ‘Super Icy’ promises both energy and atmosphere, and Liz presents ‘Unreal,’ an alternative rock inspired track highlighting her clear yet powerful vocals.
Releases ‘In Your Heart,’ characterized by trilingual lyrics and a bright melody, while Yujin closes the lineup with ‘Force,’ a bass heavy, hip hop based track that exudes confidence and charisma, demonstrating each member’s individual growth. Notably, portions of these solo songs were previously unveiled during IVE’s second world tour ‘SHOW WHAT I AM’ in Seoul last October, further heightening anticipation. Gaeul, Rei, Jang Won Young, Liz, and Leeseo also participated in writing lyrics for their solo tracks, increasing curiosity about the full versions.
Meanwhile, IVE will officially make their comeback on the 23rd with the title track ‘BLACKHOLE.’
