Singer Yoo Seung Joon (Steve Yoo) recently shared childhood memories in South Korea.
On March 18, Yoo posted a video titled "December 7, 1989. I was 13 years old (in my first year of middle school) and attending Oju Middle School in Songpa-gu until the day before I immigrated to the United States."
The video featured scenes of the school’s exterior walls, playground, school building, and front gate.
Seeing that the school had remained unchanged despite the passing decades, Yoo nostalgically remarked, "It’s just the same!" as he recalled his childhood days. However, the video was not recorded by Yoo himself.
He clarified in the caption, "A fan of mine filmed my old middle school and sent me the video. Thank you."
Yoo Seung Jun debuted in April 1997. In January 2002, after receiving a notice for public service duty, he left South Korea for a concert and subsequently acquired U.S. citizenship, resulting in the loss of his South Korean nationality. The Ministry of Justice then imposed an entry ban on him, and he has been unable to visit South Korea since.
Last year, on South Korea’s Armed Forces Day, Yoo shared his feelings, saying, "Someone asked me why I can't seem to forget about Korea. Would it be misunderstood if I said it's because I miss it and love it?"
