Five members of fromis_9 — Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Nagyung, Lee Chaeyoung, and Baek Jiheon — have officially regrouped under the label ASND (Ascend), and fans are closely watching whether they’ll retain the group’s original name.
On March 26th KST, ASND posted a short 28-second teaser video on its official account, captioned “[#fromis_9] ‘프로미스나인(fromis_9)’.” The video features the five reunited members expressing warm, emotional sentiments:
“It’s hard to describe in just one word, but we’re embracing a new beginning,” “It feels so calm and heartfelt,” and “I realize I’m someone who can be loved like this.” The clip concludes with the simple but emotional phrase, “I miss you.”
Fans reacted with overwhelming excitement and hope, flooding social media with comments like “fromis_9 is back on track,” “I’m in tears,” “They kept the name!” and “Congratulations! Can’t wait to see you again.”
Earlier this year, ASND announced that the five members had signed exclusive contracts and were preparing to return with “diverse and meaningful activities” in 2025. At the time, the label clarified that discussions with the group’s former agency Pledis Entertainment were ongoing regarding the use of the team name fromis_9.
ASND also hinted at an upcoming album release and a solo concert, promising to showcase the members’ artistic growth and passion for music.
fromis_9 was originally formed in September 2017 through the Mnet reality show ‘Idol School’ and officially debuted in January 2018 with eight members: Lee Saerom, Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Roh Jisun, Lee Seoyeon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, and Baek Jiheon. Their contracts with Pledis Entertainment ended on December 31st, 2023.
While five members moved together to ASND, the remaining three — Lee Saerom, Roh Jisun, and Lee Seoyeon — announced plans to pursue individual careers, with Lee Saerom preparing for an acting debut.
