PD Sun Hye Yoon, the wife of comedian Shin Dong Yup, opened up about the time her husband faced a massive 10 billion won debt due to a failed business investment.

On the 19th, PD Sun Hye Yoon appeared in a video titled 'Dong Yup Shin's Closest Confidant Tells the Whole Story (10 Billion Won in Debt, Supermarket, Opposition to Marriage)', released on the YouTube channel 'Sister-in-law is K.Will'. Sun Hye Yoon, a producer in MBC’s entertainment department, shared personal stories about her husband’s financial struggles and their marriage.

She recalled the moment Shin Dong Yup revealed his debt, saying, "He suddenly became as skinny as a skewer. Then he confessed that he had 10 billion won in debt. At that time, I had just given birth to my second child and was still young. The amount was so huge that I couldn't even grasp it."

She continued, "When I thought about how I should live, I decided I needed to earn money since I had a stable job. No matter what, I believed we could pay off the debt if we sold everything we had. Since I was earning a salary, I knew my family wouldn’t have to suffer. My husband didn’t waste time either, so I thought we could start over."

PD Sun Hye Yoon also shared her mindset at the time, saying, "I told him, 'Don't worry, oppa. I can make money,' but my husband was deeply moved because he thought I had unwavering faith in him. That wasn’t the case—I simply made a logical decision. It wasn’t about blindly trusting my husband."

She added, "I believed that even if we had to start over from zero, we would be okay." In response, K.Will commented, "From your husband's perspective, I think it’s because he truly trusted you."

PD Sun Hye Yoon also revealed why she decided to marry Shin Dong Yup, saying, "I could tell he grew up in a really good home. He wasn’t from a wealthy background, but he was raised in a harmonious family with loving parents and siblings. I thought that if I started a family with someone like that, I would have a happy life."

She also recalled her parents’ initial opposition to their marriage. "I first told my mom, and she suddenly tied her hair up in a ridiculous way, then collapsed and lay down," she said, making everyone laugh.

She continued, "My mom is the third of five sisters, and she talks to her siblings every day. At first, my aunts said, 'That guy seems okay,' but by the evening, she had taken off the hair tie she had tied up that morning," adding a humorous touch to the story.
