On the latest episode of ‘Good Day’, G-Dragon’s music variety show, actor Hwang Jung Min makes an appearance. The two reveal their unexpected close friendship, as they take to a LP vinyl bar in Seoul to have a chat about music.
As G-Dragon is looking to gather artists from different fields to participate in his ensemble song project, Hwang Jung Min states that he agreed immediately once he knew two things: that G-Dragon is the song producer and that the proceeds would be used for good.
Hwang Jung Min unveils that G-Dragon played his unreleased solo song demos for him, showcasing their close ties. He then confides to G-Dragon about his dilemma of being a famous actor, in which people around him always seem to only shower him with praise, which makes it tough for him as he would have to evaluate his acting himself. He asks G-Dragon how he copes with having to make artistic decisions with the lack of objective feedback from third parties, to which G-Dragon responds that he finds it tough too. G-Dragon elaborates that it helped him when he shifted to focusing on making music that satisfies himself, instead of what would fare well.
Hwang Jung Min also reveals that he has passed the one-year mark since he quit alcohol. He unveils that he initially quit smoking as a gift to himself after turning 50 years old, but he ended up drinking more to compensate for it. The side effects of drinking caught up to him, which led to him deciding to quit. He explains that his tip to curb drinking is to have the rule of only drinking with his wife, and since his wife does not drink at all, he does not drink either, demonstrating that it is a mixture of willpower and recontextualizing the situation. He however does have the occasional celebratory glass of wine at home, which he recently did when he bagged the Best Actor Award at the '45th Blue Dragon Film Awards'.
