Korean netizens are excited about the upcoming drama 'Show Business (working title)' starring Song Hye Kyo and Gong Yoo along with Cha Seung Won, Lee Hanee, and Seolhyun.
Earlier last week, on February 10, Netflix confirmed the production of the upcoming series and revealed the star-studded cast lineup. It was reported the production for the drama already began in January with a production cost of 70 billion KRW (~49 million USD). The drama will tell the story of people striving for success in the entertainment industry during the 1960s to 1980s.
The drama had already generated significant anticipation after it was confirmed that acclaimed screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung, known for her works such as 'Our Blues,' 'Dear My Friends,' 'It's Okay, That's Love,' and 'That Winter, the Wind Blows' would once again showcase her penmanship through 'Show Business.'
Meanwhile, On February 17, TEAM HOPE released an official statement clarifying that actress Lee Hanee (Honey Lee) has fully cooperated with the tax audit conducted by the Seoul Regional Tax Office as part of a comprehensive, non-regular tax investigation into corporate artists. Suspicions of tax evasion emerged during a 2022 tax audit of Lee Hanee’s former agency, Saram Entertainment, conducted by the Gangnam Tax Office. Lee Hanee was under contract with the agency for about ten years, from 2014 to 2024.
With the drama production nearing a month of filming, Korean netizens continued to express their excitement while some revisited Song Hye Kyo's past tax audit controversy in light of the news on actress Lee Hanee's tax audit. Many expressed concerns that the latest controversy could damage the drama's image. They commented:
