YoonA, a member of Girls' Generation and a celebrated actress, opened up about stepping down as the MC of‘Gayo Daejejeon’ after an impressive 10-year run. Her heartfelt reflections came during an appearance on Hyeri’s YouTube channel,‘Hyell’s Club.’
On January 7, a video titled '2025’s First Guest: Yoongphrodite' was uploaded to the channel. Hyeri, YoonA’s close friend and fellow idol-turned-actress, warmly welcomed YoonA as her first guest of the year. The two shared candid conversations about their careers and personal growth, with Hyeri enthusiastically celebrating YoonA’s decade-long achievement.
During the video, YoonA talked about her feelings after hosting her final ‘2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE.’ She remarked, “Every year-end, I’ve always been in a gown, counting down to the new year. Now that I won’t be doing that anymore, I wonder what this year-end will feel like. I’m curious. It feels strange, and I think I’ll feel a bit empty too.”
Hyeri responded with admiration, “Ten years! That’s such a big milestone. It’s not something everyone can accomplish. You’ve done amazingly.”
YoonA continued, “Whenever I hosted the show, I would say, ‘I want to do this for at least 10 years.’ And now, I’ve actually accomplished it. It feels amazing and cool. When you dedicate a decade to something, it makes you feel like a real professional in that field.”
Hyeri chimed in with her signature humor, joking, “So, are you officially retiring from gowns and countdowns now? Or should we just host our own version at home this year?” The lighthearted banter underscored the warmth of their friendship.
Since taking on the role of main MC for ‘MBC Gayo Daejejeon’ in 2015, YoonA has become synonymous with the year-end music festival. However, after hosting the ‘2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon WANNABE,’ which aired on December 31, she decided to step down from her hosting duties.
In an official statement through her agency, YoonA expressed her gratitude: “Marking my tenth year as the host of ‘MBC Gayo Daejejeon’ is deeply meaningful. I’m so thankful to have shared these unforgettable years with everyone who supported me. Please cheer for me during my final broadcast, which will remain a warm and cherished memory for me.”
Fans have praised YoonA for her professionalism and grace throughout her decade-long run as an MC. With Hyeri by her side to celebrate this milestone, the conversation on 'Hyell’s Club’ was a perfect mix of nostalgia, humor, and heartfelt emotions. YoonA’s departure leaves an indelible mark on the legacy of the beloved year-end music festival.
