Boy group The KingDom (formerly known as KINGDOM) has just announced the official departure of member Hwon from the group. The news comes only a few months after Hwon was placed on indefinite hiatus in October, citing health reasons.
Before his hiatus, Hwon had become the target of multiple controversial rumors, including allegations that he had worked in a host bar and that he had ghosted an ex-girlfriend after spending the night together. Fans also accused the idol of dating in public, with some netizens compiling pictures of Hwon at certain restaurants at the same time as an unknown woman.
Shortly after these rumors began circulating, The KingDom’s company GF Entertainment announced that Hwon would be put on indefinite hiatus due to health concerns.
Now, GF Entertainment has issued a statement officially confirming Hwon’s exit from The KingDom:
“Hello, this is GF Entertainment.
Thank you to all the fans who love The KingDom.
The KingDom member Hwon has ended his participation in the group due to personal reasons.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this sudden news.
Please give your warm support to Hwon and The KingDom.
Thank you.”
Hwon’s departure marks the second time a member has left The KingDom. Previously, former member Chiwoo left the group in 2022, and Hwon joined soon after.
The KingDom will now continue activities as a six-member group.
