‘Welcome to the Thanos world!' 'Squid Game' has once again become the talk of the town with the release of season 2. The hit drama series became Netflix’s most viewed show ever in its opening week, and it has kept viewers hooked worldwide. Of all the new and returning characters this season, Thanos stands out as the most popular and talked-about character.

Portrayed excellently by Choi Seung Hyun, better known by his stage name T.O.P, Thanos captivates audiences with his quirky personality, unpredictable behaviour, and undeniable charisma. Thanos and his team undoubtedly stole the spotlight in ‘Squid Game 2.’

Members of Team Thanos and their Fate

Team Thanos, led by Thanos, consists of five members—Nam-gyu, Min-su, Se-mi, Gyeong-su, and Thanos himself—that they form for the second game.

THANOS [Player 230]

Choi Su-bong, popularly known as Thanos, led team Thanos. He was a retired rapper who lost all his money in crypto investment after following the advice of the YouTuber MG Coin, aka Lee Myung-gi. He was killed by Myung-gi with a fork during the bathroom fight.

NAM GYU [Player 124]

Nam Gyu is also a victim of the crypto scam that was promoted by MG Coin. He and Thanos bonded quickly over their shared hatred for Myung-gi. He brutally killed teammate Se-mi with a fork and is one of the survivors in the game by the season's end.

SE-MI [Player 380]

Se-mi, whom Thanos addressed as Señorita, was a part of team Thanos and formed a bond with Park Min-su. During the night when players fought each other, she was attacked by Nam-gyu with a fork, and despite fighting for her life, she eventually succumbed to the hands of Nam-gyu.

MIN-SU [Player 125]

Park Min-su is timid and lacking in confidence, yet Thanos let him join his team as Se-mi refused to join team Thanos unless they let Min-su join too. Min-su survives in ‘Squid Game 2,’ and we have to wait for the next season to see what will happen to him.

GYEONG-SU [Player 256]

Gyeong-su from team Thanos was a fan of Thanos and attended all of his concerts. During the third game ‘Mingle,’ Thanos kicked Gyeong-su to the ground when they needed only 4 players per door. As a result he was shot by a soldier and died.

How Team Thanos Stole the Spotlights

Team Thanos becomes an unforgettable highlight of ‘Squid Game 2,’ and much of the credit goes to their leader, Thanos. The purple-haired villain of the game gives the main character vibes with a personality that oscillated between humor and menace. Thanos was not just a villain; he was a paradox. His actions, from dancing during tense moments to pushing others to their doom in "Red Light, Green Light," painted him as both a comic relief and a formidable antagonist. But Team Thanos wasn't just about its leader; it comprised a motley crew of characters, each bringing their dynamics to the forefront. Nam-gyu, an annoying sidekick; Min-su, a more cowardly but strategic thinker; Se-mi, a bold risk-taker; and Gyeong-su, a fanboy of Thanos. Together they form a crazy force that stole the heart of the viewers.

With the conclusion of ‘Squid Game 2,’ social media is flooded with discussions of Thanos and his team being the key players of the series, with many demanding to bring them back to the game in the next season.
