2024 was another year filled with amazing K-Pop releases. Out of the countless music videos that came our way this year, here are the favorites that the allkpop staff loved the most!

Susan-Han: aespa - "Armageddon"

I mean, the aesthetics of this MV are literally fire. It mixes its horror/supernatural/sci-fi/retro elements together so well to connect the "end of the century" mood and aesthetics of the late 90s/y2k with aespa's futuristic worldview in the present. And also... KARINA.

KatL903: ZEROBASEONE - "Good So Bad"

‘Good So Bad’ draws you in right from the beginning. True to the album’s concept, this music video has a very cinematic feel, following an intricate storyline while still highlighting the group’s individuality. The stunning visuals of the set blend perfectly with shots of the choreography for the song. The overall sound is also very new for ZEROBASEONE, and the unique retro vibe suits the group well.

Demian09: Rose - "
Toxic Till the End"

Rosé has always been an artist who pours her soul into her work, and this music video, released on December 6th, is no exception. The visuals are absolutely breathtaking, with cinematic storytelling, vivid colors, and an atmosphere so rich it feels like living in the song. The narrative is both heart-wrenching and beautiful, perfectly matching the song’s emotional weight. Rosé’s voice brings such raw emotion to every note, drawing viewers into the story in a way only she can. It’s not just a music video; it’s an experience.

ean1994: ATEEZ - "Ice On My Teeth"

ATEEZ was definitely rocking it this year, and as someone who doesn't stan ATEEZ and barely knows much about the group except that they were highly praised for their Coachella performance, I can say they definitely caught my attention. This music video absolutely encompasses the vibes of mystery, suave, sexy, and masculine all in one. I loved the simplicity of the aesthetics with the blue, black and white theme. Additionally, something about this music video it gives you a sense of thrill and chill. It's creepy, yet you can't help but continue to watch it repeatedly to catch all the minor details. Not to mention, the styling of all the members really enhanced the most charming parts of themselves.

JanieReign: ENHYPEN - "No Doubt"

Choosing my favorite MV of this year was (no doubt!) the most difficult decision I’ve had to make. After much deliberation, my final pick is ENHYPEN’s "No Doubt." Directed by Yunah Sheep—the same visionary behind Yeonjun’s "GGUM" (a major runner-up for me on this list!)—this MV is sheer visual perfection. Perhaps it also helped in part by the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti—a legend in art direction known for collaborations with icons like Lady Gaga. The video weaves a captivating narrative centered on a crustacean creature—a scorpion? A lobster?—which appears as a 'company logo.' In the MV, the members act as office workers chained to their cubicles until nightfall, when they finally break free, symbolized by the creature’s pinchers. This imagery is not only a clever nod to the group’s 'vampire' concept but also an evocative expression of how they struggle to contain themselves during the day while separated from their beloved. I'm telling you, this MV cannot get any sexier. The visuals masterfully depict this rising tension through a series of stunning motifs: swimming pools, air-conditioned rooms, melting ice cubes, and even steak sizzling in their desk drawers. A dynamic boxing sequence heightens the intensity, symbolizing the building heat and emotions before nightfall finally liberates them, leading to their escape. It pained me not to choose my runner-ups, such as Jaehyun’s "Smoke," a classy black-and-white and deep burgundy visual tale of self-indulgence, where Jaehyun literally bathes in glossy syrup, or 82MAJOR’s "Choke" and "Stuck," daring and humorous takes on charisma and style.

Sofia Sayson: ARTMS’ - “Virtual Angel”

The music video for ARTMS' "Virtual Angel" literally caught my eye. The first time I saw it, it felt like a lot of things happened within three minutes. I also loved the transitions, and I especially liked how they have a "Human Eye" version of it as the flashing scenes might be overwhelming for some. It's indubitably one of the most creatively unique and visually appealing K-Pop music videos I've watched.

MaiaD: RM - "Lost"

The music video for Lost by RM is a stunning visual and emotional experience. With its rich symbolism and striking cinematography, the video tells a poignant story of self-discovery and the struggles of navigating uncertainty. The carefully crafted imagery enhances the introspective lyrics, creating a layered narrative that lingers long after viewing. It is a bold and beautifully executed piece of art that perfectly complements the experimental sound of the track.

Jia-Lin:
BOYNEXTDOOR - "Earth, Wind, & Fire"

This music video is a wild ride! You never know what the next scene will bring, which is what I love about it. The song is a crazy declaration of love, comparing the person to "Earth, Wind and Fire," with incredibly well-done set and prop designs to fit the theme. Love it!

Minsoo-Kim: Newjeans - "How Sweet"

When debating with a friend who claimed that NewJeans’ music all sounds similar, I found myself passionately explaining how each of their tracks has tried something new—yet I could still understand their point. The defining characteristic of NewJeans’ voices is their loveliness. This trait is beautifully captured in their music videos, which manage to feel fresh and retro at the same time, creating a sophistication.

hjang: Rose x Bruno Mars - "APT."

It stood out for its various colors and scene transitions that matched the music. It's also super catchy.

A-Nish: BTS V x Park Hyo Shin - "Winter Ahead"

What an aesthetically beautiful yet haunting music video! It leaves me amazed, confused and also dazed. V moulding his ideal partner to life was simply perfection but we soon realize that it could all be a mirage. This was my interpretation of the MV. It blends art, darkness, themes of confusion and realization. Truly, my kind of video.

Rika-Go: TREASURE - "Last Night"

My favorite MV of 2024 goes to TREASURE’s latest release, “LAST NIGHT.” It’s everything I’ve wanted to see from a YG boy group—an outdoor, free-spirited shoot. The visually stunning MV is filled with fun and perfectly complements the youthful vibes of the song. I love how it shows the members coming together to watch fireworks after a day of having fun and hanging out with one another.

KG: IU - "Love Wins All"

I thought IU's music video for "Love Wins All" was truly outstanding. Featuring BTS’s V, the MV is an emotional masterpiece that captivates viewers with its heartfelt story and powerful visuals. The chemistry between IU and V brings an added layer of depth, making every scene feel intimate and impactful. Beyond its emotional resonance, the video sparked countless discussions among fans, who shared intricate theories about the storyline, symbolism, and hidden messages. This kind of engagement is always a good sign, as it highlights the artistry and thought put into the production while keeping fans deeply invested.

Ari: XG - "Woke Up"

Although they're technically full of Japanese members, their involvement in the K-pop system makes them feel right at home in the genre. This music video exudes presence, with the members showcasing undeniable confidence and charisma. Both the song and MV are so addictive, they've been on constant replay for me!

Paul: aespa - "Supernova"

This music video was an absolute blast, featuring the members showcasing their unique superpowers in a visually stunning way. "Supernova" is undeniably catchy, but the MV takes it to the next level with its captivating visuals, making it my favorite MV of the year.

ReneeT: Doh Kyung Soo (D.O.) - "Mars"

Doh Kyung Soo, or EXO’s D.O, is probably the best exemplar of how an artist can seamlessly integrate his singing and acting career together. While the song is in the same vein as what you would typically expect from him, his music videos since he went independent from SM Entertainment seem to forge a stronger personal identity. Plot-based music videos are on the wane, especially for K-Pop idols where the visuals are focused on accentuating the dance moves and stylistic concepts. They are also tough to pull off as they demand acting skills from a singer. Here is where Doh Kyung Soo shines, with his naturalistic acting skills put to great use to bolster up his singing career. In “Mars,” there is not a single cut of the singer mouthing the words. What you get is an intricately-shot short film, directed by Lee Rae Kyung, a longtime collaborator of Doh’s. The gorgeous palette and quirky but subdued vibes perfectly complement his exquisite vocals and personality, strengthening Doh Kyung Soo’s individuality.

Alec06: Jennie - "Mantra"

Jennie's "Mantra" music video has garnered immense love, ranking first among the most popular videos on YouTube in both Korea and the US, as well as topping YouTube Trending Worldwide upon its release. The "Mantra" music video is powerful and energetic while showcasing Jennie’s distinct atmosphere and presence. In 2024, Jennie made history as the first K-pop female solo artist to top the US iTunes Top Song chart with "Mantra."

Sophie-HA: IU - "Shh"

This cinematic music video brought together women from different generations, including actress Tang Wei, veteran singer Patti Kim, Joe Won Sun, and NewJeans' Hyein to create a truly captivating project. The video and song, according to the description, go beyond a simple tale of friendship or a typical love story. IU shared that this song is about all the special women in our lives. The music video portrays the complex relationship between a mother and daughter, intricately told through an enigmatic time loop, adding depth and mystery to the narrative.
