Jeon Hye Jin will star in the Genie TV·ENA drama 'Riding Life,' set to premiere on March 3. This marks her first drama appearance in 1 year and 7 months since 'Namnam,' which concluded on August 22, 2023.
'Riding Life' is based on the novel of the same name by author Go Seon-mi and features a star-studded cast, including Jeon Hye Jin, Jo Min-soo, Jeon Seok-ho, and Jung Jin-young. The story revolves around a passionate working mom preparing for the "7-year-old exam," a competitive process for preschoolers seeking admission to a prestigious English kindergarten. The drama unfolds as she entrusts her mother with her daughter's riding lessons, leading to a series of comedic and heartfelt events. Jeon Hye-jin plays Lee Jung-eun, a dedicated beauty industry professional who juggles her career and her daughter’s education.
The production team of 'Riding Life' commented, "We provide a realistic portrayal of the early childhood private education scene, which has rarely been explored in dramas, while telling the intergenerational story of a mother and daughter with '200% real empathy.' We ask for your interest and anticipation until the premiere."
Jeon Hye Jin’s return to acting follows a challenging chapter in her life. She lost her husband, the late actor Lee Sun Gyun, in 2023. Lee Sun Gyun faced allegations of drug use in October 2023, but initial tests yielded negative results. On December 27, 2023, he was found unconscious in a car in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, and despite expressing feelings of injustice, he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.
After his sudden passing, Jeon Hye Jin paused her activities and took time to process her grief. However, her mental health deteriorated following a stroke she suffered on March 27, 2024. Her upcoming drama represents her first step toward overcoming these personal hardships.
