Heejae and Ireah, former members of group MASC, joined forces to introduce themselves as SEVENUS. The duo officially debuted in July 2023 with the single album 'Summús' after taking second place on JTBC's survival program, 'Peak Time.'

In just over a year since debuting, SEVENUS has already released a total of five projects: 'Summús,' "MIRROR," 'SPRING CANVAS,' "一万种恋爱的可能," and the latest addition to their discography — 'STAY TUNED,' their second mini-album.

SEVENUS capped off 2024 with the release of 'STAY TUNED,' a project reflecting their desire to stay longer in the music industry and to constantly connect with their fans, HEEALA. The album contains six tracks of diverse genres that convey emotions and sincerity: "Be My World," "by," "Starlight," "wish," "SLOMO," the title song, and "COLD AND SHINY."

The duo is set to hold a concert, 'On Air Night with HEEALA,' on February 8 at the Seongam Art Hall, Seoul, marking their first domestic show in a long time.

To commemorate their recent album release, allkpop sat down with Heejae and Ireah to discuss 'STAY TUNED,' creative process, and 2025 goals. Check out our exclusive interview with SEVENUS below!

allkpop: First of all, congratulations on your latest album! Introduce yourselves to our readers: are there any fun facts and TMIs you'd like to share with us?

Heejae: Hello, I'm Heejae from SEVENUS. I'm finally making my debut as an actor! I was cast as the lead in a play called 'I Love You Mom,' and I'm working hard to perform.

Ireah: Hello allkpop readers, I'm Ireah from SEVENUS! I'm happy to greet you as a singer and songwriter on this ‘STAY TUNED’ album. I'll be working hard to create good songs for SEVENUS starting with this album, so please look forward to our future endeavors!

allkpop: Tell us more about your album ‘STAY TUNED,’ its overall message and why you named it that way.

SEVENUS: ‘STAY TUNED’ means stay tuned. It means we want to stay in the music world as SEVENUS for a longer period of time, and we want to stay connected with everyone who listens to our songs for a longer period.

allkpop: I'm curious why you chose “SLOMO” as the album's title song. Why do you think “SLOMO” is the most suitable?

SEVENUS: After much consideration, we chose the title song as "SLOMO" because it's an emotional song suitable for winter. We hope you will have a warmer winter with SEVENUS’ emotional voice!

allkpop: Which track do you think suits your musical taste the most?

Heejae: My favorite song is track number six, “COLD AND SHINY,” which can be thought of as SEVENUS' signature ballad. It's a very emotional song with gem-like lyrics and our voices. I love the ballad genre the most, so “COLD AND SHINY” is my favorite.

Ireah: I think you can feel our identity in these songs: “wish,” where you can hear a relaxing and pleasant melody with two voices with different charms, and “COLD AND SHINY,” a ballad where you can feel the sum of our warm voices!

allkpop: Ireah participated in writing some of the tracks. Could you tell us more about the thought process behind it? And for Heejae, have you tried writing songs, and do you have any plans on releasing them?

Heejae: I would like to start with songwriting first because writing is my favorite hobby. And if I get the chance, I would love to make my own songs and share them with you!

Ireah: I think working on the song made me think more about how to maximize SEVENUS’ colors and strengths. I think a good song shouldn't just be a good song, but should be able to also make use of the singer's strengths. So, I'm going to try harder to make songs that allow us to shine!

allkpop: Most acts in the K-Pop industry are formed in groups, some are soloists, and only a few are in duos. How is your idol journey as a duo so far? How are you liking it?

Heejae: We're happy with our journey so far. I think we haven't been able to show our charm and our unique strengths (the harmony of our voices and the chemistry between us) to many people yet. We'll continue to work hard to showcase our strengths and the music we can deliver!

Ireah: I think it's clear what we're happy about and what we're not happy about. I think the fact that there are so few duos out there can mean that there's less data to refer to. But on the other hand, I think it can also make us unique. Our goal is to utilize our strengths and make sure that when we duo up, SEVENUS is the first name that comes to mind.

allkpop: What can we look forward to from you in the year 2025? Share with us your goals and plans for the year, and leave a message to your fans and allkpop readers!

Heejae: I think we will be able to perform in various countries this year, starting with our first solo concert, and we will be able to meet our fans in various ways and on various stages, not just singing.
