Former T-ara member Lee Ahreum has been sentenced to probation for child abuse and defamation.
On January 17 KST, the Ansan branch of the Suwon District Court sentenced Lee Ahreum to 8 months in prison, deferred by a probationary period of 2 years. If no similar crimes are committed during the probationary period, the prison sentence will be voided.
Previously, Lee Ahreum was charged with child abuse after yelling and cursing at her ex-husband in front of her two children. On top of that, she was also sued for defamation by an online netizen, 'A', after she made several insulting remarks about 'A' on a live broadcast for disclosing court documents about her current husband.
The court found Lee Ahreum guilty of both charges, particularly acknowledging the severity of the child abuse inflicted on her children.
Meanwhile, Lee Ahreum debuted as a member of T-ara in 2012 and left the group after 1 year. Afterward, she married a businessman and gave birth to two children, before undergoing divorce in December of 2023. Last year, Lee Ahreum re-married and gave birth to her third child in November. She is currently expecting her fourth child.
