(G)I-DLE's Minnie finally released the music video for her solo debut track "Blind Eyes Red" and it has been garnering much attention.
The music video showcased Minnie's dominating presence and unique aura as a solo artist. However, many fans and Korean netizens have become concerned after seeing her noticeably slim appearance.
In particular, the scene where Minnie's back was shown has become a hot topic as the sharp outline of her spine was clearly visible.
One fan shared clips of moments that showed Minnie's excessively thin figure and expressed concerns for her health. The fan wrote, "You can literally see her bones... It's probably because of the concept, but someone please feed Minnie five meals a day..."
Other fans have also expressed concerns and have commented that Minnie needs to eat. They shared:
Translation: "Minnie, please make sure to eat lots of delicious food..."
Other netizens were also concerned about the effect the music video would have. They were concerned it might cause young girls to go on excessive diets. They commented:
"The scene showing her bones is genuinely harmful—why include something like that?"
"I’m seriously worried... What if young fans stop eating until they get that skinny too?"
"It might be CGI, but still... why show a scene like that? It’s really harmful."
"Why put that scene in? Do they think it looks beautiful?"
"Back in my school days, I knew someone that thin, and they would get bruises shaped like their spine because they had no fat..."
"It’s dangerous. Young kids who see this might end up starving themselves."
"People criticize idols no matter what—whether they gain or lose weight. Everyone should just live their lives in peace."
"Oh dear... I hope Minnie’s physical health is okay."
"It’s exhausting to see even elementary school kids saying they need to diet or lose weight... It’s because the public always has something to say if someone gains even a little bit. I feel like idols are victims of this vicious cycle too, and it never seems to end."
"It seems like that scene might’ve been CGI for the concept. I don’t think it was meant to be beautiful—maybe it was meant to create an eerie vibe. Still, I get why fans are telling her to eat more."
"Whether it’s real or CGI, either way, it’s problematic."
"It does seem like they deliberately included that shot, but considering how showing off skinny bodies keeps negatively affecting idols and teenagers, I can understand why people are speaking up."
