Actress Lim Ji Yeon has addressed the criticism she received after cheering for actor Jung Woo Sung, who was involved in an "illegitimate child" controversy.
On the 23rd, Lim Ji Yeon participated in an interview at a café in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, to discuss the conclusion of the drama "The Tale of Lady Ok". During the interview, Lim Ji Yeon reflected on the incident at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards in November last year, where she clapped and cheered for Jung Woo Sung.
Recalling the moment, Lim Ji Yeon stated, "It was such a brief moment, so it's hard to say whether it was right or wrong to react that way," adding, "I didn’t anticipate the public’s reaction. On the other hand, since "The Tale of Lady Ok" was airing at the time, there were aspects I was cautious about."
Jung Woo Sung returned to the public eye at the 45th Blue Dragon Film Awards following the controversy surrounding his extramarital child with model Moon Ga Bi. The two had been close since 2022, and it was revealed that Moon Ga Bi was pregnant in June last year.
At the awards ceremony, Jung Woo Sung publicly addressed the issue, saying, "I apologize for causing concern and disappointment to all those who have given me love and support. I will bear all the criticism, and as a father, I will take full responsibility for my son."
When Jung Woo Sung spoke about the controversy, Lim Ji Yeon cheered and clapped from the audience. Her reaction was compared to that of actress Hye Ri, who was seated next to her and remained expressionless. This contrast led some netizens to criticize Lim Ji Yeon’s actions.
Lim Ji Yeon’s agency, Artist Company, is co-founded by Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae. Both Jung Woo Sung and Lee Jung Jae currently serve as directors of the agency.
