Actress Goo Hye Sun has sparked a heated debate after appearing on MBC’s 'Radio Star' wearing a hat, which led to accusations of unprofessional behavior.
Goo responded to the controversy on her Instagram account, stating, "Wearing a hat is my freedom."
On the 16th, Goo shared her thoughts on Instagram, stating, “Wearing a hat on a lighthearted entertainment program—not a formal setting—due to personal circumstances is neither rude nor improper; it’s my freedom.” She added, “Nonetheless, I sincerely appreciate such feedback.”
The incident followed Goo’s appearance on 'Radio Star' the previous day, where she updated viewers on her recent achievements. During the broadcast, Goo revealed that she had graduated summa cum laude from Sungkyunkwan University and recently enrolled in a graduate program at KAIST, receiving warm congratulations from the hosts and viewers.
At the show's start, Goo explained her choice to wear a hat, saying, “I was going to wash up today, but my boiler broke down, so I couldn’t wash my hair. That’s why I’m wearing a hat. The producer suggested I take it off for filming, but I explained I couldn’t now.” Her candid explanation drew laughter from the hosts Kim Gu Ra, Yoo Se Yoon, and Jang Do Yeon, maintaining a cheerful atmosphere.
However, some viewers criticized Goo’s decision to disregard the production team’s suggestion, calling it unprofessional. Online commenters wrote, “Is it normal to appear on TV without washing your hair?” and “It shows a lack of effort.”
Conversely, others came to Goo’s defense, stating, “She’s not the first person to wear a hat on TV,” and “It’s just an accessory.”
Meanwhile, Goo Hye Sun recently received recognition as the winner of the essay category at the '30th KAIST Literature Awards.'
