WINNER's Song Min Ho, who is currently serving as a public service worker, has not been seen at his workplace following allegations of negligent duty.
According to a December 18 Star News report, Song Min Ho did not report to work that day at the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. This facility is where Song Min Ho, who is currently serving as a public service worker, has been assigned to work.
Initially assigned to the Mapo Facilities Management Corporation in March last year, he was transferred to the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility in March of this year.
It was confirmed that Song Min Ho had taken sick leave for personal reasons on December 18. He had been classified as a Grade 4 supplementary service worker following a conscription physical examination, which allowed him to serve alternative military duty instead of active duty. He has reportedly been receiving treatment for panic disorder and bipolar disorder, which contributed to his assignment as a public service worker.
A representative from the Mapo Resident Convenience Facility told Star News, "Since the person in charge is currently under investigation due to the controversy surrounding Song Min Ho's poor service performance, there is nothing we can say at this time," avoiding any further clarification.
Meanwhile, Song Min Ho is scheduled to complete his alternative military service on December 23, officially ending his "military hiatus" period. However, controversy erupted on December 17, following reports by Dispatch, which alleged that Song Min Ho had gone on a 6-day, 5-night trip to Hawaii on October 31 and had not been properly reporting to work since then.
The Military Manpower Administration (MMA), which is responsible for monitoring public service workers, has also faced criticism for its failure to properly supervise the situation. In response, the MMA launched an investigation to verify the facts.
YG Entertainment, Song Min Ho’s agency, issued an official statement, saying, "The reason for his sick leave is a continuation of the treatment he had been receiving prior to his service. Additionally, all of his vacation and leave days were used in accordance with regulations." YG also addressed the accusations regarding his attendance records, stating that while there were allegations of attendance manipulation and absenteeism, there was no violation of any regulations, implying that Song Min Ho had not broken any rules.
