On the morning of the 16th, a press briefing for the movie 'The Black Nuns' was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul, attended by Director Kwon Hyuk-jae, Song Hye-kyo, Jeon Yeo-been, Lee Jin-wook, and Moon Woo-jin. The cast and director shared insights into the film, which tells the story of individuals participating in a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

'The Black Nuns', a sequel to the 2015 film 'The Priests', explores the untold story of nuns defying prohibitions to engage in exorcisms. Director Kwon Hyuk-jae expressed his admiration for the original film and spoke about the pressure of creating a worthy follow-up, emphasizing a realistic portrayal of the occult genre to intensify the narrative.

Song Hye-kyo, returning to the big screen after her acclaimed role in Netflix's 'The Glory', plays Yunia, a nun willing to break rules to save a boy. On choosing the project, she remarked, "After the success of 'The Glory', I felt burdened but saw this film as fate. It allowed me to explore a different side of myself."

Jeon Yeo-bin portrays Sister Michaela, who assists Yunia in becoming a black nun. She explained her approach to the role, highlighting the importance of reactions and expressing energy through physicality and emotion, while praising Song Hye-kyo’s supportive presence on set.

The two actresses showcased their deep mutual trust and admiration. Jeon affectionately referred to Song as "My Unia," describing her as a warm and charismatic leader on set. Song, in turn, called Jeon her "savior," further heightening expectations for their on-screen chemistry.

Director Kwon elaborated on the film's unique premise, noting the contrast between nuns prohibited from exorcisms and their struggle to overcome this restriction to save a child. The inclusion of unexpected scenes and the distinct personalities of the two lead characters add to the film's refreshing appeal.

Scheduled for release on January 24, 2025, 'The Black Nuns' aims to captivate audiences with its suspenseful story and a fresh take on the Korean occult genre, while staying connected to its predecessor 'The Priests'.
