Actor Lee Seung Gi opened up about his life after becoming a father during his appearance on SBS Power FM’s ‘Cultwo Show’ on December 10th.
He was joined by his co-stars Kim Yoon Seok, Kim Sung Ryung, Kang Han Na, and Park Soo Young from the upcoming film ‘About Family.’
‘About Family’ is a family comedy about Ham Moo Ok (played by Kim Yoon Seok), the owner of a dumpling restaurant who becomes concerned about the family line ending after his son Ham Moon Seok (played by Lee Seung Gi) becomes a monk. The story takes a comedic turn when grandchildren unexpectedly show up at the restaurant.
Lee Seung Gi plays the role of Ham Moon Seok, a former medical student who cuts ties with his father to pursue life as a monk.
For the role, Lee shaved his head, a decision he discussed during the show: “I had grown my hair out for two years. After shaving it off, I realized it doesn’t grow back as easily as I thought. I’ve been taking care of it carefully ever since.”
Lee described his character: “In the film, I play a monk who used to be a medical student. He’s a star monk who quickly rises to become the head monk. My character has a strained relationship with his father, played by Kim Yoon Seok. Things get interesting when children claiming to be my character’s offspring show up at the dumpling shop run by my father.”
He also shared his thoughts on working with the cast: “I chose this project because I wanted to act alongside Kim Yoon Seok. Kang Han Na, who plays my former lover, and Park Soo Young, who endured tough times with me, made the experience even more enjoyable. It’s always more fun when your co-stars are great actors, and I genuinely had a great time filming.”
During the broadcast, a listener asked if becoming a father had changed how Lee viewed child actors. He responded, “I feel differently about all children now. There’s a saying that if your own child is precious, so are others’. I didn’t fully understand that before, but after becoming a parent, I see all children as incredibly precious and valuable.”
Lee Seung Gi married Lee Da In, the daughter of actress Gyeon Mi Ri and younger sister of actress Lee Yoo Bi, last year. The couple welcomed their daughter in February of this year, marking his new journey as a father.
