It's estimated that approximately 200,000 South Koreans will assemble in various locations throughout Seoul on Saturday, December 7 KST, to demand President Yoon Seok Yeol's impeachment.
On Saturday evening at 7 PM KST, South Korea's National Assembly will convene to vote on Yoon Seok Yeol's impeachment, a motion put forward based on the claim that the president violated the constitution by declaring martial law on the evening of December 3 KST without meeting any of the prerequisites for a martial law declaration.
According to South Korean police on December 6 KST, organized rallies will occur in the vicinity of the National Assembly building in Yeouido, in front of Gwanghwamun, and in front of Seoul City Hall throughout the day. The police estimated that approximately 200,000 civilians would show up to the rallies.
K-Pop fans are also preparing to attend Saturday's rallies. Instead of using traditional candlelights, K-Pop fans intend on defending their rights for democracy using their brightest weapons: their light sticks.
A call for members of the K-Pop fan community and other fan communities to assemble in front of the National Assembly Building on Saturday at 3 PM KST has been issued by "Light Sticks for National Solidarity", promoting the slogan, "Let us cry only for ticketing." Many fans, active and inactive in their respective communities, expressed their intention of joining the Saturday rally.
In fact, K-Pop fans were spotting showing up to the impeachment rallies on Wednesday and Thursday as well:
Many others commented,
