Korean netizens noticed NewJeans standing in the center of the stage at the '66th Japan Record Awards' which took place on December 30, sparking discussions about the group's popularity.

An online started the following topic in a popularity community, "Look at the difference in treatment between NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, and ILLIT in Japan." The user wrote, "Japanese broadcasters seem to favor NewJeans more. NewJeans stands in the very center, while LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT are cast off to the side." They added a photo showing NewJeans standing prominently in the center, LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT were positioned further to the side.

Korean netizens gathered in a popular online community to discuss this topic and commented on NewJeans' popularity in Japan. They commented:
