The renowned couple Jang Dong Gun and Ko So Young seem to be hitting roadblocks in their professional endeavors.
Jang Dong Gun’s long-awaited return to the big screen with ‘A Normal Family’ failed to revive his career, while Ko So Young’s debut in a reality show was ultimately canceled.
On December 10th, TV Chosun announced that the decision had been made not to proceed with Ko So Young’s reality show after discussions. The specific reasons for the cancellation were not disclosed.
In October, TV Chosun had officially announced that Ko So Young would appear in her first-ever reality program since her debut. The show was centered around the theme of “rest,” with a concept featuring Ko So Young opening the doors to a house she designed and decorated herself. It marked her return to activities after seven years since her last drama, ‘Ms. Perfect’ (2017). However, the project was ultimately scrapped.
Meanwhile, Jang Dong Gun’s return to the big screen with ‘A Normal Family’—which had garnered early buzz after invitations to multiple international film festivals—fell short of expectations at the box office.
Directed by Hur Jin Ho, ‘A Normal Family’ is a suspenseful film depicting the unraveling of four individuals’ lives after they discover footage of their children involved in a crime scene. Despite being praised as a well-made suspense film, it only drew 640,000 theatergoers, far short of the 1.5 million needed to break even.
