Yuri of Girls' Generation, also an actress, prepared a gimbap for fans attending the candlelight rally in Yeouido calling for the impeachment of President Yoon.
On the 13th, Yuri posted a message on a fan communication platform, saying, "Everyone, eat gimbap tomorrow and stay full. Be safe and stay healthy. Sing 'Into the New World' well."
Yuri prepaid for gimbap at a restaurant near Dangsan Station for fans. Fans could receive the gimbap by presenting the group's official light stick, known as the 'S♡NE stick.'
The previous day, Yuri also shared her warm sentiments with fans, saying, "How are you holding up in the cold? The S♡NE sticks looked so beautiful and cool. Be careful of colds and dress warmly. I loved hearing 'Into the New World' resonate. I listen to it every day, too."
Similarly, IU, a singer and actress, also prepared food, including bread and rice cakes, for fans attending the rally.EDAM Entertainment, IU's agency, announced on her official fan café, "We prepared snacks and hand warmers, hoping to warm the cold hands of UAENAs [IU's fandom] holding 'IUs' [IU's light sticks] at the rally in this chilly weather."
The rallies come amidst heated public discourse over President Yoon's impeachment. On the 7th, nationwide protests for and against impeachment were held after the National Assembly failed to pass the impeachment motion. Out of 300 lawmakers, only 195 participated in the vote, falling short of the 200 votes required for approval.
The second vote on the impeachment motion is scheduled for the 14th. With tens of thousands expected to gather outside the National Assembly, public attention remains focused on the ongoing political situation.
