Big Hit Music has refrained from commenting on reports regarding BTS member Jin’s involvement in the liquor business.
On December 11th, a representative from Big Hit Music told Maeil Business Star Today, “We ask for your understanding that we cannot confirm this matter.”
Earlier that day, News1 reported that Jin and Baek Jong Won, CEO of The Born Korea, had co-invested in a newly established agricultural corporation, Yesan Doga, which is set to launch a distilled spirit called ‘IGIN’ this month.
IGIN is a traditional liquor infused with elements of Yesan, South Chungcheong Province, where Baek Jong Won is from. In addition to distilled spirits, the company reportedly plans to produce ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages made with local agricultural products such as Yesan apples, watermelons, and plums.
To facilitate this venture, Jin and Baek Jong Won established the agricultural corporation ‘Jin’s Lamp’ in December 2022, headquartered in Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province.
Jin’s Lamp will oversee the production of IGIN, while the distribution will be handled by Yesan Doga, a subsidiary of The Born Korea. The project also includes the participation of Park Nok Dam, a master craftsman often referred to as the "godfather of traditional Korean liquor," who serves as an auditor.
Meanwhile, Jin released his first solo album, ‘HAPPY,’ on November 15th. The album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 on November 30th, and the title track, ‘Running Wild,’ ranked at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100.
