NewJeans’ Minji forms a heartwarming bond with fencing champ Kim Jun Ho’s son on ‘The Return of Superman’
On the November 27th KST episode of KBS2’s ‘The Return of Superman’ (hereafter referred to as ‘Superman’), Minji from NewJeans meets Jeongwoo, the second son of former national fencing athlete Kim Jun Ho. This episode, titled “Loving You Is Supernatural,” features hosts Park Soo Hong, Choi Ji Woo, and Ahn Young Mi alongside Superman dads Kim Jun Ho and Jang Dong Min.
Minji, a member of the “super rookie” group NewJeans that swept both Rookie and Grand Prizes in their debut year, meets the Eunwoo-Jeongwoo brothers. As a devoted fan of ‘Superman’ and the brothers, Minji calls herself a “successful fangirl,” raising excitement for their delightful day together.
During the episode, Minji and Jeongwoo form a “bear siblings” duo that captivates viewers. Minji mentions her nickname “Bear Minji,” given by fans, and begins pointing out similarities with Jeongwoo. Jeongwoo, known for his bear-like expressions and gestures, has been nicknamed “Bear Jeongwoo” by his father, Kim Jun Ho. Minji discovers even more shared traits, including being the second child, having a May birthday, and sharing blood type A. She adds, “I also love lying down—wow, we’re so alike!” solidifying their bond by listing five commonalities.
Jeongwoo, charmed by Minji, eagerly runs to her when called, earning the nickname “clingy little brother.” He even offers Minji sweet potatoes first, showcasing his affection for her. Minji, in turn, carries the 13kg Jeongwoo and embarks on an adorable “errand date,” further enhancing their “bear siblings” chemistry. Anticipation for the broadcast of their heartwarming dynamic is growing.
Meanwhile, NewJeans is currently embroiled in controversy with their agency, ADOR, as they have sent a notice of termination for their exclusive contracts. The group’s demands include an official apology from the manager who told member Hanni to “be ignored” and the reinstatement of former CEO Min Hee Jin. They have warned that if these demands are not met within 14 days, they will proceed with contract termination.
