Netizens revisited J.Y. Park saying why he doesn't manage JYP Entertainment like HYBE amid HYBE label's controversies.
On November 2nd, netizens revisited J.Y. Park's YouTube appearance back in November 2023. During this live-stream interview, J.Y. Park said that he wouldn't have operated JYP Entertainment like HYBE even if he had enough funds to do so. He commented, "I first founded the company back in 1997 and it has been 26 years (*at the time of the interview). What I put the most effort into during these 26 years was to create a culture within the company. Being transparent, healthy, and participating in interest groups within the company so that healthy employees positively affect artists, flat and non-hierarchical, things like that."
He continued, "We worked so hard to have that culture settle within our company but acquiring a different company would mean that culture cannot be maintained. Another issue is who controls the IP. I know in the U.S. it's a different story than here in Korea, however, I think it's really difficult to contractually tease out, although HYBE seems doing well."
Netizens commented: "Having the right company culture is so important and it's a fact that companies that grew with multiple M&As have a messed up culture."
"JYP Entertainment has the most women in their c-suite and has the least wage difference between genders. Regardless of what his private life looks like, I think JYP Entertainment has the best company culture and operation in the industry."
"It's about whether you have a heritage or not."
"This is why you can actually feel the popularity when any JYP idols have a hit song. It's because there was no payola lol."
"I love how he can confidently say that there are no illegal or cheating schemes in his company."
"The fact that his company had 0 after the NTS(*National Tax Service) audit says everything that I needed to know."
