MONGDOLL recently claimed the grand prize at the National YD (Young Dream) Rock Festival, solidifying their reputation as one of Korea’s top bands.
The competition attracted hundreds of skilled rock bands from across South korea. After a rigorous evaluation process, eight teams advanced to the preliminaries. On the day of the live competition, five bands made it to the finals, where MONDGOLL emerged victorious with the highest score, taking home the grand prize trophy.
The rock festival competition was part of the 4th Muan YD (Young Dream) Festival hosted by Muan County in Jeollanam-do. Under the slogan “Unleashing Joy,” the event celebrated the dreams of young people.
Renowned artists such as Boohwal, Crying Nut, Lucy, BewhY, Hangzoo, and Kim Na Young graced the stage, elevating the festive atmosphere.
MONGDOLL is a five-member male band from Asan, Chungcheongnam-do, that debuted in 2021. They have swept major trophies in various competitions, including ‘I’m a Musician,’ ‘Korea Cultural Month’s Shin Ga Gaek Daechup,’ and ‘IndieStance.’
In 2023, they won the grand prize at ‘Rising Star Search,’ further cementing their talent. Last October, they performed as Chungcheongnam-do’s representative musicians at the province’s Visit Chungcheongnam-do Year proclamation ceremony.
In July, MONGDOLL released their single ‘Paper Memories,’ a song praised for its meaningful message and distinctive presence. The track reflects on the diminishing use of pencils in modern society due to smartphones, evoking a sense of nostalgia.
Critics lauded MONGDOLL as a band that “brings to light the hidden beauty of everyday life through their music.”
