The MelOn Music Awards 2024 (MMA 2024) took place at the Inspire Arena in Incheon on November 30th, celebrating the year's achievements in K-Pop.
Amidst the spectacular performances and award celebrations, a striking sight caught the attention of spectators. Rows of fans, seated near the stage, held up cameras with massive telephoto lenses, highlighting the intense dedication of K-Pop fansites.
A post titled "A photo of MMA's audience seats that is kinda goosebump-inducing" sparked a debate among netizens.
Some expressed disapproval, commenting: "Gosh, that's disgusting," "They are raising their cameras above their heads too, that'll obstruct the view," and "I hate shutter sounds; once I hear it, I can't ignore it."
Others defended the fansites, arguing that they were confined to a designated area, away from fans who wanted to enjoy the performances. Comments included: "It's good to see that at least there's a fansite zone LOL," "I prefer that so much more than phones, actually. It's so much better than people who hold up placards too," and "Cameras nowadays don't make too much sound. I was seated next to a fansite master once and I had to ask if they were actually taking photos."
