Singer J.Y. Park, a.k.a. JYP at the helm of the eponymous entertainment industry, has recently expressed his opinions on whether he will encourage his daughters to pursue music, just like he did.
In response, he states that it is one of the best jobs in the world, and he would be supportive, but on one caveat: they must have the gift for it.
J.Y. Park elaborates that possessing such star quality and talent is innate and cannot be made up with just hard work, though it must be followed with diligence and sincerity for the potential to be realized.
In Korean media, you would commonly come across this so-called ‘X factor’ or ‘je ne sais quoi’ with the term ‘ggi (끼)’, used to express an inherent quality that allows one to dominate the stage, command attention, and accentuate one’s talents, beyond one's technical skills and looks.
J.Y. Park concludes with hopes that his daughters are musically-inclined, and emphasizes that they should join his entertainment agency if they venture into the music business, as he claims that JYP is the most conservative company.
