Following her hit single "APT" with Bruno Mars, BLACKPINK's Rosé returned with another pre-release track before she drops her full album 'Rosie,' showcasing a more introspective and emotionally resonant side.

On November 22, Rosé released "Number One Girl," a slow pop track that expresses a girl’s longing to be someone’s top priority. At first listen, the song comes across as a heartfelt serenade about a girl yearning for love from her significant other.

However, it was revealed that Rosé wrote the song when she found herself unable to sleep after reading malicious comments online. Moreover, Rosé dedicated the song to everyone who wants to simply be loved. She wrote on her Instagram "This one is for every girl (and boy) who dreams to be somebody's number."
