T-ara has been gaining renewed attention with the latest resurfacing of the "bullying controversy," involving former member Hwayoung. In light of the latest buzz surrounding the group, T-ara's Eunjung confessed that she was against the retro concept of the group.
Eunjung appeared as a special guest on the November 12 episode of SBS's variety show 'Dolsing Fourmen.' During the show, Eunjung revealed that she had actually debuted back in 1995 at the age of 7, bringing shock to the cast members.
Eunjung revealed she debuted through the 1995 drama 'New Generation Report: Adults Don't Know' and explained, "It was a drama that featured seniors like Ha Ji Won and Choi Kang Hee." Eunjung further explained that she had actually wanted to become a Miss Korea. She shared, "There was a ‘Children's Beauty Pageant’ where all the beautiful children from around the country gathered. My hobby was ballet, but I remember the girl next to me was chosen to perform ballet instead." She continued, "Of course, I had prepared too. I said to the producer who was the judge, 'I can do ballet too, so why are you only letting this friend perform?' The producer saw that and contacted my mom. He said I had an outstanding confidence and suggested I try acting."
Eunjung also revealed that T-ara members were against the retro concept of the group initially. She explained, "We didn't like it (the retro concept). At first, we thought it was too old-fashioned. But then the CEO came to the recording studio while he was drunk and said, ‘Do you even know retro? I’m from the retro generation. This has to be done in the diamond step," recalling how the group had once gone against CEO Kim Kwang Soo's idea.
She added, "We reluctantly did 'Roly-Poly,' even though we didn’t really want to. With 'Lovey-Dovey,' we told him that the shuffle dance trend was already over, but the CEO insisted, ‘If you do it, you can make it popular again,’ saying that we could bring the trend back.”
Meanwhile, CEO Kim Kwang Soo appeared on MBN's 'Let’s Go Season 3' and mentioned the T-ara bullying incident, reigniting the controversy. After the broadcast, Hwayoung stated, “It’s true that I was bullied,” but the other T-ara members and CEO Kim Kwang Soo did not offer any additional comments.
