A famous YouTuber has been charged with assaulting his wife and is also under investigation for animal abuse and sexually abusing a 13-year-old minor for two years.
According to the Jongno Police Station in Seoul and the Michuhol Police Station in Incheon on November 17, famous YouTuber 'A' (age 35), who has over 200,000 subscribers, has been charged with violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act.
'A' is accused of domestic violence for assaulting his wife 'B' (33) at a lodging facility in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, in the early morning of November 13. He is reported to have punched his wife in the face and jaw area, causing injuries requiring three weeks of treatment.
According to the police investigation, 'A' took away 'B's cell phone during this process, and 'B' reported it to the police with the help of a lodging facility employee.
Moreover, 'A' was indicted last month on charges of filming parts of his wife's body and posting them on his YouTube channel. The police are currently investigating after securing related evidence.
In August, 'A' was also accused of killing his pet dog by kicking it and is also being investigated for violating the Animal Protection Act.
In addition, 'A' is being tried on charges of sexual assault of a minor. It was revealed that he met a YouTube viewer who was a 13-year-old middle school student at the time and lived with her for about two years while knowing that she was a minor and had sexual relations with her on at least 34 occasions.
The first trial on the charge of statutory rape of a minor will be held on November 19. The prosecution has requested a 9-year prison sentence for 'A.'
