Big Ocean, the world’s first idol group composed of hearing-impaired members, has received an official invitation from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a UN agency, and will travel to Geneva, Switzerland.
On November 5th, the ITU announced on its official website that Big Ocean would perform at the AI for Good Global Summit held in Geneva on July 8th and 9th next year.
According to their agency, “Big Ocean uses Singing Voice Conversion (SVC), an AI vocal technology, in their music production process. While AI voices are increasingly misused in cases like voice phishing and deepfake, Big Ocean has been recognized as a positive example of AI voice application, showcasing how artificial intelligence can help overcome the challenges of hearing impairments.”
The AI for Good Global Summit, launched in 2017, is the UN's flagship AI event, with over 40 UN partner organizations participating. It serves as a global hub, seeking practical solutions to advance the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through AI technology.
The summit also connects AI innovators with CEOs from the public and private sectors to help spread AI solutions worldwide.
Meanwhile, Big Ocean will release its first mini-album, Follow, at noon on November 12th. The album’s title track, FLOW, introduces a new genre called Free-soul POP, promoting the message of "creating music purely for oneself and finding happiness through music."
