Noh Hong Chul recently opened up about experiencing physical assault during his military service.
On October 17th, a video titled “First Look Inside Noh Hong-chul’s Luxury Home in Yongsan for 11 Guests” was uploaded on his YouTube channel. The video featured fashion brand CEO Lee Min Wook and his wife, bakery founder Lee Hyo Jung, who joined Noh for a conversation at his home.
During the chat, Lee Min Wook revealed that he had known Noh since their time in the military, calling him “a sergeant I originally knew from the army.” This led the production team to comment, “You must have seen a lot of Noh Hong Chul’s military stories firsthand.” Noh Hong Chul has been known for humorously sharing his military stories, often describing his time in the army with a surprising positivity.
Lee Min Wook reminisced about Noh’s high energy even during their service, while Noh recounted his surprise at the military environment being so different from civilian life. He shared how excited he was about the uniformity of military attire, calling it the “ultimate couple’s outfit.”
However, Noh also admitted that his unique speaking style and behavior didn’t sit well with his superiors, leading to him being physically punished. He recounted moments like addressing superiors casually as “hyung” instead of using formal titles, which resulted in him getting hit.
Despite the harsh experiences, Noh reflected on his time in the military with a positive attitude. He explained how he learned to maintain his individuality, even in such a strict environment, and credited this experience for shaping his confident approach to his career in the entertainment industry. He emphasized the importance of expressing personal preferences and staying true to oneself, sharing how he eventually earned respect from his superiors.
Noh Hong Chul’s lighthearted but sincere recount of his military experience left viewers and his guests both laughing and admiring his resilient attitude.
