NewJeans grace fashion magazine’s digital cover with a chic vibe.
On October 1st KST, Elle magazine revealed the special digital project cover D Edition, featuring NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) in collaboration with Calvin Klein. In the released photoshoot, NewJeans perfectly embodied the minimalist concept of the 1990s, showcasing their professional charm.
In the interview that accompanied the photoshoot, NewJeans shared their thoughts on their recent releases, including their double single How Sweet in May and their Japanese debut single Supernatural in June. Minji expressed her excitement about Supernatural, saying, “As it was our official Japanese debut single, we had high expectations. It was meaningful to be able to showcase music and dance that perfectly suited us.”
Danielle, who performed their self-composed song Butterflies for the first time during their fan meeting at Tokyo Dome in June, said, “It’s a song I wrote with the thought of always wanting to be with our Bunnies (fandom name),” expressing her deep affection for fans. Hanni fondly recalled the moment, sharing, “I spent a long time looking at the photos I took of the Bunnies from the stage. Seeing their happy expressions, which I couldn’t fully see during the performance, made me emotional.”
Hyein, who briefly stepped back from activities due to an injury, reflected on her time away, saying, “Seeing NewJeans from a step back, the word ‘happiness’ was what suited the team best. It was a valuable time, as I could clearly feel how watching their performances and listening to their music made me happy.” Haerin talked about bonding moments with her members, adding, “Right before going on stage, when we shout ‘Way to go!’ while looking into each other’s eyes, that’s when I feel our mutual reliance on one another.”
NewJeans’ digital and moving covers, along with their fashion film and video interview, are available on Elle’s website and social media channels. The full story and photoshoot will be featured in the November issue of Elle.
